“Your mind can open the door to new opportunities for you to achieve and be successful. It can make you happy and it brings about happiness.
“You can choose to focus on making sure your mind and body feel good and you can learn so much which helps you become better. You can do all these things while practicing yoga and you are going to gain huge benefits from it.”
What are the benefits of being in a yoga course?
“Yoga teaches you to focus more on your breathing and the flow within your body. It teaches you a lot on how to relax your body, and how to focus on your breath.
“Yoga is a very safe activity, unlike other sports, because it doesn’t cause any injury. It teaches you a lot of techniques to improve your strength.
“It can be difficult to find a yoga teacher but you can always go in and visit the teachers. You can always ask the teachers if there is anything they can do to teach you.”
“It is very difficult to understand if you have not been to a yoga teacher before. Every teacher will tell you that yoga is more for adults and beginners – if at all they can help you achieve your goal.”
Yoga’s use in the UK
According to Yoga England, yoga is now practiced in over 500,000 UK schools, and about 4.5 million adults in the UK own a yoga mat.
What is the current health status of yoga in the USA?
In 2008, a Gallup poll was carried out, which showed that almost a quarter of Americans (23%) said they had attended a yoga class in the previous four months, and 19% had used yoga for physical therapy, 6% for relaxation, and 6% for stress relief.
In the United States the government has recognised yoga as a health activity which can help relieve stress. In addition to having the health benefits, there is also a growing awareness around nutrition, physical activity, and overall wellbeing.
In 2014, the US Yoga Association released a report on the health and well-being of Americans.
The report also highlighted the importance of health-awareness and fitness at all levels – particularly the young.
