How many people are licensed NLP practitioners?
In 2007, the total number of people licensed as NLP practitioners in the United States was 527,902 (according to NIAID). However, the NIAID does not publish the number of NLP practitioners currently practising.
The NIAID states that at the end of March 2012, there were 9,611 people licensed to provide professional consultation in NLP.
As of September 2012, approximately 17% of the people licensed to provide professional consultation in NLP work for either NLP-related companies or consultancies.
How many people hold NLP degrees and certificates?
A report from the US Department of Education on the number of students obtaining NLP degrees and certificates, published in November 2013, found NLP graduates to be more educated than those with other specialised or non-specialised professional fields. By March 2014, the total number of US adults holding NLP degrees had increased to 2.8 million with a further 2.5 million holding NLP certificates, with around half of those holding NLP certificates holding a Master of Science, while the remaining half of those holding an MD or PhD hold a PhD.
By the end of that year, about 6.6% of the adult population had NLP training and 2.0% of individuals between 25 and 34 years of age had training.
