How does the certification take place?
At the beginning of each year, you will take an exam. Once you pass you will receive your certification.
Who can participate in the certification?
The Certified Life Coach Certification Program consists of two components, both of which are voluntary opportunities for individuals seeking the certification.
For individuals seeking Certification in the New York State Division of Life, Safety & Health Management (DLSMT) or Lifeguard & Paramedic Programs in New York, this will take place on a mandatory three-month training period. An online survey will be sent at the start of the certification program.
For individuals seeking certification in the New York State Division of Life, Safety & Health Administration (MDA), this will be a three-month training period. An online survey will be sent at the start of the certification program.
For individuals seeking certification in the New York State Department of Health and Senior Services (DCHS), this will take place on a mandatory two-month Training Course.
What is the current fee structure for both programs?
For both programs, the fee is $495, subject to the following eligibility criteria:
Individuals between the ages of 24-49;
Individuals on active duty;
Individuals with disabilities or mental illness requiring access to and assistance with specialized care;
Individuals with a disability or mental illness requiring full-time employment under the Public Service, Retirement, and Social Security Laws and a minimum of 60 consecutive weeks of disability-free coverage;
Individuals age 65 or older and individuals who have never exercised a regulated profession;
Individuals under age 51 requiring full-time assistance to maintain physical, mental, and cognitive health, including any of the following conditions or disorders: Post-traumatic stress disorder; Tourette’s Syndrome; or any other mental disorder as identified by the American Academy of Certified Life Instructors (AALIE) criteria and a minimum of 120 continuous hours of disability-free coverage;
Individuals who are married and who live together;
Individuals with a significant other who reside a distance of at least 50 miles from the office site;
Individuals who have been in an accident, illness, or any other medical/mental or physical emergency;
Individuals with criminal charges pending;
Individuals whose name has been entered in the national Crime Victim Registry; and
Members of the Armed
