When you start teaching ICF, you will need to have:
Expertise in various disciplines, which includes medicine, psychology, education and training
Personal and professional networks which include family, friends and colleagues
An interest in education, including the development of new concepts
Experience in training and in-service training, and the willingness to provide practical and hands-on training
The opportunity to meet and train potential clients.
You will need to apply for a Certificate of Successful Certification of ICF.

What is the training and development for ICF?
You will become an ICF trainer by completing one (1) to three (3) sessions per week in your home training. These are intended to enhance your knowledge of anatomy and physiology, as well as your ability to integrate those skills into your own practice.
An ICF trainer must undertake a series of exercises in preparation for practice. These include:
The first session of a practice session will provide you with training on the basic anatomical, physiological and functional aspects of ICD-10, and how to apply them to the application of ICD-9 to patients with a variety of diseases and injury conditions.
You will also learn to perform the tasks that make up a complete ICF practice. Examples may include:
Conducting ICD-9 examinations of a patient in order to help assess the underlying pathology based on a range of diagnostic tests
Interpreting the underlying medical history, including assessment of blood sugar, glucose and insulin level, lipid profile, and the need for treatment
Assessing and treating the underlying pathology, including testing to measure the effectiveness of new ICD-9 diagnosis and improvement of management
Maintaining a working clinical practice, and meeting the specific needs of the practice, which might include:
Assessments and referrals relating to the clinical care of a whole patient
Reviews to ensure the safety of the patients within the practice
Making decisions related to management, including referrals, care and medication; and
Assessment, diagnosis and treatment for a specific clinical issue, including specific assessment of the patient’s underlying condition.
The second session of a practice session includes:
Practice skills and training for interpreting ICF documents, protocols and clinical case reviews;
The assessment of a whole patient;
How to improve and enhance practice skills by understanding and applying emerging ICD
