The Fuji XT1 is a very capable camera which has a wide dynamic range, it takes fine-grain photos but I would only recommend it for use when capturing fast moving action in your photos.
I recently shot some footage for a film project and found myself needing to shoot a quick one shot event.
After shooting some images, I realised I would like to use the Fuji XT1 for this kind of use.
But, I’m running out of budget.
What camera would you buy if you could?
My first camera would have to be the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000. This camera has a very large 12 Megapixel sensor, but it takes really good photos. It’s really light and easy to hold.
It’s a good choice for the budget-conscious videomaker!
Is there a special feature you really want in a camera?
The Fuji XT1 has a huge range of useful camera functions. It comes with both Live View and Flash. In live view, you can see your subject from many different angles and can even control exposure, ISO, white balance (exposure compensation), shot time and more. In Flash, you can use the touchscreen to quickly take shots, or even snap a still photo straight from the camera.
What’s the best way to learn about photography?
The best way to learn about photography is to get out and experiment with different cameras as you explore different subjects. You should know the capabilities of most cameras out there. I like to use a variety of cameras because it gives me exposure to shoot at all times, and an ability to create work of different kinds.
So, my favourite way to get out and explore is by walking around the streets of Sydney and photographing as much as I can. You’ll see a lot more and I’ll learn something new and exciting from everything I see!
