A recent article by the National Enquirer suggested that Hillary Clinton must be investigated for her use of a private email server.

This is a classic example of cherrypicking evidence to support your case, something that journalists often do – as evident, for example, when they falsely claim that Saddam Hussein’s WMD stockpiles were never found.

The National Enquirer article claimed that Hillary Clinton’s “bombshell” email server contained emails that contained “explosive information”:

“According to the first batch of emails she provided to the State Department, she sent or received 110,000, according to a Fox News report.”

This is an interesting statement to make, because if there’s one thing that I’ve said in my lifetime, it’s this: In the eyes of the State Department and other intelligence agencies, nothing has changed in Clinton’s email history. It remains, as they say, classified.

As the first of Hillary’s classified emails revealed on July 2, 2013 to FBI director James Comey, several emails contained details of “sensitive sources, locations, and methods.”

As for whether any of the information contained in the emails was classified, Comey replied to Clinton’s emails on July 2, 2013:

“There is information here that is not publicly available that is classified at the Secret level.”

Yet Hillary has kept her email account entirely confidential.

In reality, the truth is that in the eyes of the intelligence community, Clinton’s email account was classified for over one year prior to her arrival at the State Department. Her “bombshell” email is the most important element, and it is precisely its contents that are relevant to the ongoing investigation.

Clinton, in addition to having a “private server on which she transmitted classified information,” did likewise, with the support of top Obama administration officials, when she did not want intelligence or security clearances to be scrutinized:

“I did not know there was so much classified information on that server,” Clinton told Congress in March 2015, following the revelation that at least one email contained top secret intelligence.
